Following our recent telephone conversation I have pleasure in confirming details of my successful change from a leading fully synthetic oil to Royal Purple Racing 51 in my Ferrari race car. I have now completed three races and three qualifying sessions since changing to Racing 51, a racing milage of around 140 miles. The improvement in the oil pressure as a result of the change is quite amazing. With the previous oil I contemplating an engine removal to check the oil pump, since the pressure readings under racing conditions were unacceptably low. With Racing 51 this has proved to be unnecessary as the pressure has improved by up to 150%. I have tabulated the pressures to indicate the improvements that have been achieved:

Although I am unable to check oil temperatures sufficiently accurately with the instrumentation on the car, I feel sure that the engine is running cooler under racing conditions.

This letter is confirmation that in 1998 Jordan Grand Prix tested Royal Purple oil and found it to be of a high standard.

This was going to be a simple "Thank You" letter, but somehow I am lost for words. I am just glad that you were present to see exactly what happened when we used your "Royal Purple" racing two-stroke and gearbox oils. For the benefit of anyone else who may hear of this, I will briefly run through what happened again, (I've already told so many people so a few more won't matter!),...without alteration whatsoever, all we did was use a mix of "Royal Purple" two-stroke oil instead of our usual brand, and changed the gearbox oil to yours. The results were unbelievable!! Barry's Formula 4 race boat found some extra RPM, which in turn, lifted his boat out of the water a little more, resulting in his quickest lap times ever. Even more spectacular though, was my Formula 2,...racing against some very quick boats, including one that has just won the World Championship, 3 weeks ago, and another that finished in fifth place, I not only kept behind them, but actually put in quicker lap times than them! This was all done with my usual standard engine, (not a super-quick, blueprinted, race prepared engine). As I said to Geoff, I was glad that you were there to see for yourself, you could hear the difference in the engines, (the fully tuned ones always sound different, running higher compressions etc.), but the lap times are the ultimate results, and my boat put in the quickest lap times it's ever done!! Bearing in mind that I have been racing at Oulton Broad, my "home" circuit for nearly 10 years now, and have raced this outfit for 4 years, I think it is safe to say that I am qualified to judge my boats performance. As you could see from the number of spectators, most of which are there every week, enquiring as to what I had done to make such a dramatic difference in performance, the gains were quite incredible. I had several drivers coming round for a quiet word, and casually asking what this "special oil" is all about, maybe they could try some. I can't wait to see just what else we can do, maybe we will try altering jet sizes, it is just so unbelievable what has been achieved straight out of a bottle, it really has got us, (and everybody else) wondering.

We have been using RP21 in our sixteen Supercars since the beginning of this year. Each car has been used for approximately 50 days and each day amounts to about 300 miles per car. The oil has worked very well from cold and when hot it maintains good pressure. Even with high fuel and water dilution it has maintained its lubrication properties. The oil analysis has proved very useful. We are still running the same oil in some cars that we put in at the beginning of the year. The oil analysis has shown very little change in the wear metals present in the oil which indicates the internal engine condition has changed much at all during the year. We thank you for introducing Royal Purple Oil to us and we will continue to use it and the oil analysis during 2001

Royal Purple Oil Test

Royal Purple Racing 41 was tested in a back to back dyno test with our current oil. The test consisted of three dyno runs with each oil at normal operating temperature. The best of three runs was taken for each oil and a slight improvement in torque from 4000rpm to 7000rpm was gained with the Racing 41. The temperature in the dyno room was very similar for all the runs so I would consider this to be a fair test. The RACING 41 was tested last and afterwards a visual inspection of the camshafts and tappets was undertaken. On previous inspections with our current oil, there didn't seem to be a great deal of residual oil on the valve train components. This appeared to be a similar case with RACING 41 Having said this, we have had no problems in the past and a long term test would be a better evaluation. In summary I would have to say that there is a performance improvement to be had with the ROYAL PURPLE RACING 41 and with a longer-term test some even more positive results could be achieved.
